Wow, its been one week since i last started work. My first full 5 days of working at the night company. Wellz, first few days were a bore. Like what i divulged earlier in the previous blog felt like sleeping lots of times, especially in the morning.
Hell was unleashed slowly. On Wednesday i had to stay till 6 p.m cause i wasn't aware of the time and tried troubleshooting one of the user's PC cause the Explorer window could not display. It was supposed to be a touch and go thing, just install the floopy and leave. Unfortunately it was not to be. Until the next day i realised that somebody had disabled the floppy. Funny thing is when i tried turning on the explorer without the floppy attached, a floppy icon was available. What the hell??
Finally enabled the floppy device and installed it and there it goes. What a waste of time. Today was even worse. One of my colleagues wanted me to format a user's PC and reinstall the software. I was supposed to copy the relevant files remotely over the intranet so that i could have the files needed to set her email identification. However he told me to bring up the system to configure at my cubicle. Horror upon horrors, more helpdesk logs came in. Climbed up to the 13th floor to set up the Zip drive and allow the users to concurrently access the device. Then got called to go the the 11th floor to settle the CD-Burner of one of the users. Waited 20 minutes just to get the Burner to work. Damn another waste of time.
Next after getting back to my cubicle, one of my colleagues had to settle a Lotus Notes problem at another floor and got me to follow him. Whilst he was troubleshooting, i was struggling to keep my eyes awake.. and almost collapsed a few times. So tried jumping up and down to keep myself awake.
Going back to my cubicle, was close to time for me to leave the place. Shit and i only installed a few softwares inside. Many more to go. My colleague asked to leave the place saying that it doesn't matter if the user doesn't get the PC back. I then left with him. Until i was in the train did we realise that the user may want be working on Saturday and might need to system up and running! Shit ... and my colleague could say it doesn't matter to him cause in the end the user would come to look for me instead of him. Damn. He was the one who suggested bringing up the system and now i gotta eat the shit and not him.
Bloody hell. Thankfully one of my colleagues could cover for me if the user should need the system if she works on Saturday. Man, i hate doing things halfway. Hopefully the boss will not take this matter into account when he decides whether or not to continue to employ me after the 3 months probation.
Listening to Avril Lavigne's "Things i'll never say" here at baby's place. trying to accompany her whilst she studies for her project. Me feeling sticky and tired too, but i gotta be here if she's to stay awake to study. She needs somebody to push her to stay awake. She doesn't have much time to finish her project so i gotta try to help her in anyway i can..
